The Texas Longhorn Breeders of America (TLBA) Foundation was established in 1986 to complement the Association in the preservation and promotion of the Texas Longhorn breed. The TLBA Foundation supports and assists the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America by providing support with educational programs through the distribution of information about the breed to schools/educators, civic clubs, livestock organizations and news media. It also provides a source of funds for organizations such as 4-H Clubs, universities, high schools and to members of our own youth organization, the Texas Longhorn Breeders of Tomorrow (TLBT). The TLBA Foundation over sees the management of the Brite Futures Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to deserving youth members to help them further their educational endeavors. The Foundation also works to promote local, state, and federal legislation that benefits the livestock and ranching industry. The TLBA Foundation also oversees the management of the property owned in the historic Stockyards district of Fort Worth. The land was acquired in the fall of 1983 by the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America for the future home of the Associations offices and a Texas Longhorn Museum. One of the TLBA Foundation is to complete this goal of building a Association Headquarters and museum. The land is currently the home of western artist T.D. Kelsey's bronze sculpture, Texas Gold. This impressive work of art was gifted to the Texas Longhorn Breeders and the city of Fort Worth for Mr. Kelsey. The TLBA Foundation currently holds assets in excess of a million dollars in land and cash, and it continues to grow for the future. The TLBA Foundation operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding provision or provisions of any subsequent United States Internal Revenue law (the “Code”). All support of the endeavors of The TLBA Foundation to help our youth with educational funds, creating public awareness or help with the goal of building an association headquarters and museum are greatly appreciated.
